MEN OF SCI3NCE – Must be Science Guy Week: in addition to a fun cameo in this week’s Numb3rs (playing a professor who does an experiment with fire to help our heroes capture a serial arsonist), Bill Nye also got a name-check this week on Bones, where he and his spiritual forbearer, Mister Wizard, are used in a generational joke. (Young guys know who Nye is; geezers know Mister Wizard.) Nye played his usual Enthusiastic Science Geek self on Numb3rs – not out of place on a series that celebrates ESGs – though I've gotta admit at one point during his appearance I kept expecting to hear a Pat Cashman voiceover on the soundtrack.
A Digressive Thought: I keep reading that we are living in an era where the public's love for "spiritual" entertainments reflects a need for more religiously uplifting experiences in our lives. So what does it say that some of the highest rated dramas on television currently are ones – like this or the C.S.I. franchise – that essentially revolve around scientific theory and process?
