"AFTER A WHILE . . . A JOURNALIST IN A ROOM BEGINS TO SMELL" – Takes some time to download it (damn PDF files!), but Joe Sacco's eight-page Guardian comic is a must-read for anyone interested in the art-form's journalistic potential. Recounting the experiences of two Iraqis who claim to've experienced physical and psychological torture at the hands of U.S. troops, Sacco's piece is as troubling in its acknowledgement of the ways the act of journalistic interview can rekindle trauma as it is in its Kafka-esque depiction of frightening, unexplained imprisonment and abuse. Definitely worth the download time . . .
