POST 2,000 – So this a.m. I'm adding a few lightweight posts to ye ol' weblog, and I notice on the Blogger Dashboard that I'm approaching my 2,000 Gadabout posting. That's a decent amount of writing time repped, I think, so how in the world should I celebrate it? Should I write a State of the Blogosphere essay – in a futile attempt at elevating my place in it? Or simply up the level of self-aggrandizement by pimping the fact that the new Comics Journal has a review by yours truly of The Legend of Wild Man Fischer? Perhaps I should go light and pad this post with vaguely related lyrical quotes ("You've got to work hard/You've got to work hard/If you want anything at all!"*)? Or write another quickie post pondering the pop music refs on Lost? Why don't I take advantage of the occasion to draw your attention to my Amazon Wish List? Or is that too smarmy? Perhaps I should make a heavy political statement ("Dear poli-blogosphere: Michael Moore is fat; Jonah Goldberg is fat. Please feel free to say nothing more about this.")? Or simply give a shout-out to my fellow bloggers?
Screw it, I decide. I'm puttin' up a picture of Ziggy Stardust . . .
Let a thousand fresh posts bloom . . .
