"A CLEAN KILL!" – With all the jokes being made about Dick Cheney's hunting imbroglio, a lotta pop culture references have been made, the most prominent among bloggers and cartoonists perhaps being a comparison between the veep and Elmer Fudd, millionaire. But as the week's progressed, the images I've kept coming back to are from British comedies. Two from Python, of course: first being an early sequence with a group of twitty sportsmen heading out on the hunt and limping back wounded; the second from later in the show's run with some big game hunters using outlandishly over-muscled guns to mow down small prey. The third's from The Magic Christian, a movie comedy I haven't seen in way too many years, which featured Peter Sellers and Ringo Starr similarly running amuck on the hunt. It's like it's 1970 all over again . . .
