SOME OF THAT COLBERT TRUTHINESS – Sharpest moment in last night's Colbert Report: our knee-jerk host mentally contorting himself as he wrestles with his conflicting emotional responses by this week's Port Security Contract story. (I'm still trying to untangle the details of this story, but, like the Report's writers, I'm instantly amused by the spectacle of professional xenophobes suddenly and unconvincingly donning the mantle of one world tolerance in defense of their commander-in-chief.) In the end, Colbert's news host simply abandons all pretext of rational analysis and comes down on the side of unthinkingly trusting the president: a succinct reenactment of the cultish mindset that Glenn Greenwald has decried on his poli-blog.
