JAY SILVERHEEL'S STAR – I know I'd created a log-in identity to read the New York Times on-line pages years ago, but it's been so long since I used it that I found I had to come up with a new one today when I followed Mike Sterling's link to the first page of Jaime Hernandez's new "Funny Pages" serial, "La Maggie, La Loca." I wasn't disappointed, though; the first page of this fresh "Locas" adventure does a great job introducing the outside world to his most appealing Love And Rockets creation. And while the lines on the PDF doc at times look they were constructed with very tiny Legos, the sureness of Jaime's art still manages to come across. Also like the use of color, which we haven't seen in a full-blown Maggie story since – gads! – 1997's Maggie And Hopey Color Fun. Looks like I'll be using my new log-in regularly in the weeks ahead . . .
