"THE MOST SENSATIONAL STRIP CHARACTER OF ALL TIME!" Like most comics fans with a shred of decency, I'm happy to read about the recent court victory for the estates of Siegel and Shuster, the creators of Superman. For decades, DC Comics' shoddy treatment of the two young boys who gave them their bedrock creation has been one of the great shames of the industry - a flagrant example of business sticking it to the little guys - and it's great to see it finally being redressed before the inevitable appeals once more muddy up the works. Self-described Goldwater conservative Dirk Deppey has the clearest explanation of the reasoning behind this recent decision that I've read to date. (As Mark Evanier has pointed out, the mainstream media has all it can do to get Siegel & Shuster's names right!) Good news for anyone who ever believed - in the naivetee of their youth - that the Man of Steel ever stood for something.
