SILVER: I could care less about Ron Silver's politics, though obviously more than a few folks did since reference to it shows up repeatedly in pieces discussing the man's demise. I did enjoy his work as an actor, though: his performance as the canny political consultant Bruno on The West Wing, his work as Alan Dershowitz in Reversal of Fortune, even his role as a psycho killer in the Jamie Leigh Curtis cop thriller Blue Steel. A great actor with a distinctive voice that I remember noticing back from an early appearance on the sitcom Rhoda. I read that his much-publicized shift in political allegiances (from liberal Democrat to speaker at the Republican national convention) may have hampered his career as an actor in recent years. But looking over his credits at IMDB -- the vita of a hardworking character actor with more than a few recurring teleseries roles -- I see a still-busy guy and deservedly so.
